Marriott hotel near Lambert Airport evacuated after fire

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A utility building at the Marriott hotel near Lambert St. Louis Airport caught on fire Monday morning. The hotel evacuated people staying there as a precaution.

Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the a utility building in the 10700 block of Pear Tree Drive. The fire was elevated to a second alarm possibly because it took place near the hotel.

A third party was replacing and removing a commercial sized air conditioning unit when it caught fire.  No one was injured in the fire.  It occurred in a unit outside the back of the hotel.
