Man shot dead in north city apartment complex

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting Friday afternoon in the Carr Square neighborhood of north St. Louis. The shooting took place just after 2 p.m. on Preservation Place in an apartment complex location between 16th and 14th Streets.

The 19-year-old victim, identified as Charles Gray Jr., was walking through the complex when he was shot in the head. he ran to the next street over where he collapsed and died.

Relatives and friends on the scene were overcome with emotion.

Police say witnesses have been forthcoming with information in the case. There are also several surveillance cameras around the complex that police hope will help their investigation.
