Multi-car crash closes portion of I-170; one injured

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Part of a major highway was shut down for a time overnight after a multi-vehicle crash that sent at least one person to the hospital. It happened about 2:20 a.m. on I-170 south near St. Charles Rock Road.

Interstate 170 south was shut down between Natural Bridge and St. Charles Rock Road for a little more than an hour after the three vehicle wreck. Multiple police agencies responded but the Missouri Highway Patrol is taking the lead on the investigation into the crash. The cars involved in the crash included a taxi, a Dodge Magnum and a Mercury Marquis.

One person was transported to a hospital but the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Accident reconstruction crews were not called in. At this point there is no word yet on what exactly caused the crash.

The interstate reopened around 3:30 a.m.
