(KTVI) - Eight people have been charged with theft in a multi-state theft ring.  The seven men and one woman were captured near Farmersville Illinois following a smash and grab at the Saks Fifth Avenue store at Plaza Frontenac over the weekend.

Illinois State Police say the eight in custody and several suspects still on the loose are believed to be involved in a theft ring that hit high-end retail stores in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.

All eight subjects are from Chicago Illinois.

Police say the theft ring is responsible for $1.9 million dollars’ worth of stolen items and damages.
