WEBSTER GROVES, MO (KTVI) - A water main break has snarled traffic at a busy south St. Louis County intersection. A break in a 12 inch water main under Watson Road buckled the pavement in several spots at the intersection with Elm/S. Rock Hill Rd.  The intersection is closed. Only local traffic can access Watson Road from Lindbergh to the damaged intersection.

The location of the water main break is where three communities come together, Webster Groves, Crestwood, and Affton.

The water main should be repaired by Monday evening, but MoDOT will need to work through the night to make the necessary road repairs.

Missouri American Water says that the good news for water customers is that there is no water service disruption due to plenty of redundancies in the area.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible. There are marked detours in place.
