ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A deadly shooting on Interstate 55 is not the first-time gunfire took a life on the interstate. There have been at least two other deadly shootings on I-55 this year.

The owner of Maggie O’Briens was shot and killed near I-55 and Loughborough last month.  A woman in her 20’s was shot and killed August near I-55 and Arsenal in August.

“I’m not going to risk my life on the highway,” said St. Louis resident Nathaniel Williams. “I will not drive on the highway for nothing.”

Police point out thousands of drivers safely travel the interstate daily.  They are looking for help identifying the shooter in this most recent attack.  They believe shots came from a dark-colored 4-door vehicle around 12:15pm Monday.

The victim’s pickup and the vehicle where the shots came from were traveling south on I-55, according to police.  Based on eyewitness accounts police believe the victim was the intended target.  Investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.

“If you saw something, nothing too small is insignificant,” said St. Louis Metropolitan Police Capt. Mary Warnecke.

The phone number for St. Louis Regional Crimestoppers is 1-866-371-TIPS (8477).
