In a preview of the Winter Classic coming up on January 2, 2017 at Busch Stadium, the Blues and Blackhawks had quite a tussle on Saturday night at Scottrade Center. Three third period goals by Chicago led them to a 6-4 win over the Blues. Patrik Berglund scored 41 seconds into the game to get the Blues off to a great start. It was the first of two goals for Berglund in the game. The teams traded goals throughout the game. Each time the Blues would score, the Hawks would retie the game, as in 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4. But Vincent Hinostroza’s goal with 4:25 left in the game put the Blackhawks in the lead for the first time in the game. Am Artemi Panarin empty net goal closed out the scoring. The Blues got their other goals from Kyle Brodziak and Alex Pietrangelo.

The loss drops the Blues eight points back of the first place Blackhawks in the NHL’s Central division.

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock and goalie Jake Allen were not pleased with the outcome of the game.
