Man confesses to fatal Florissant shooting after officers arrive

FLORISSANT, MO – Police say a 51-year-old man was shot and killed outside a home located in the 3600 block of Dwyer Wednesday evening. They say several people gathered around Stanley Ivory’s body in the driveway when they arrived at around 5pm.

Officers tried to render aid to Ivory when they arrived. They were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in the crowd approached officers and identified himself as the shooter. Police say that Ricky Canada, 53, confessed to the shooting and was immediately taken into custody. Investigators say the shooting was the result of a family dispute. Canada now has warrants for murder in the 2nd degree and armed criminal action.

Canada is being held at the St. Louis County Jail on $250,000 bond.
