COOL VALLEY, MO - Police are asking for your help to track down the suspect in a fatal shooting that happened on a MetroBus in Cool Valley.
Police believe it started with one passenger bumping into another on the MetroBus and ended with a fatal shooting and a search for the suspect.
"I don’t believe this will be an isolated incident if he’s not apprehended soon," says Sergeant Tameika Sanders with Normandy Police Department.
Police are now looking for the suspect who was involved in a fight on the bus with 35-year-old Kenneth Pointer.
That fight escalated when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots a Pointer. The bus stopped and Pointer tried to run off but police say the suspect followed him and continued shooting at him.
“We’re absolutely positive that somebody will be able to ID the suspect for us and get us information that will lead to his apprehension and his arrest," says Sanders.
Police believe the suspect rides the bus regularly.
They are also looking to speak with a woman who may be a witness.
“We’re actually looking at her as a person of interest/possible witness to the altercation. She was the only person that wasn't still on scene when officers arrived, but everyone on the bus was clearly shaken,“ Sanders said.
Metro Transit released a statement saying Pointer was a regular rider in north St. Louis County and their thoughts go out to his family.
CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case. That number is 1-866-371-TIPS (8477).
“This is a dangerous person that we shouldn’t leave a large and I area to injury to someone else," says Sanders.
