PAGEDALE, Mo. - Police from St. Louis County and Pagedale responded to a shooting Monday at the Rock Road MetroLink station.

According to Pagedale police, one man was sitting on a bench at the platform when another man came up to him and they both walked down the gravel path away from the station; that’s when the shots were fired.

The victim was struck in the thigh. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police canine units were dispatched to help search the area for evidence. Police did recover one gun at the scene, but they're still looking for the suspect.

A police spokesperson said investigators were still working to determine if they both were firing at each other or if the suspect was the only one firing shots.

According to Lieutenant Anthony Huckleberry, Pagedale Police Department, there was a security guard at the scene, which may have been a deterrent and part of the reason why the shooting happened off the platform. He said the security guard was the one to report the shooting to 911.

"I think that’s an isolated event. We’ve been working in partnership with St. Louis County, Metrolink Police, as well as Metrolink security, to make sure that area is very safe," Huckleberry said.

Fox 2/KPLR 11  reached out to Metro for a statement, but the only thing they would offer on the record was that the incident did not interrupt services and that the shooting did not happen on their property.
