St. Louis man faces charges for crashing into police car

ST. LOUIS (AP) – A St. Louis man is facing charges after police allege he fled a traffic stop and injured an officer by crashing into his car.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 55-year-old Carl Evans was arrested this week. He faces charges of assault, leaving the scene of an accident, armed criminal action and resisting or interfering with an arrest.

St. Louis police say officers approached Evans’ parked vehicle in November because it had “suspicious license plates.” Court documents allege that Evans sped away from officers. The officers pursued Evans and claim to have witnessed him ignoring traffic signals, including a stop sign.

Police allege he struck a police car, injuring an officer in the crash.

Evans’ bail was set at $20,000. Jail records don’t list an attorney for Evan.
