ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) _ An Aurora man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for fatally shooting another man inside a suburban Chicago social club, shortly after authorities say they were drinking together at the club’s bar.

A Kane County judge ordered the sentence Wednesday for 51-year-old Alfredo Soto. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder for the August 2016 death of 31-year-old Martiniano Alvarez of North Aurora.

Authorities say witnesses described the men as having a normal conversation at the club in Aurora before Soto got up and walked toward the door. Prosecutors say Soto asked Alvarez to come with him, then pulled out a gun and shot Alvarez four times. The shooting was captured on surveillance video.

Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon says the shooting was “cold-blooded and unprovoked.”
