Man sentenced in carjacking of Meals on Wheels volunteer
ST. LOUIS – A suburban St. Louis man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for carjacking three vehicles, including one belonging to a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program that delivers food to homebound seniors.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 21-year-old Jorion Garrett, of Hazelwood, was sentenced Thursday for three armed carjacking charges and two gun charges.
Prosecutors say that after stealing two vehicles in 2017, Garrett and another person carjacked the Meals on Wheels volunteer’s Jeep Liberty in January. They escaped after a police chase but investigators found Garrett’s DNA in all three vehicles and his fingerprints in the Jeep.
