KTVI FOX 2 is a top-performing FOX Broadcasting affiliate, located in the St. Louis, Missouri broadcast designated market area (DMA). FOX 2 produces over 68 hours of live news and local programming each week.

KTVI launched on August 10, 1953 on UHF channel 54, becoming the second station in the St. Louis market. The station, licensed in Belleville, Illinois, began with the call letters WTVI, as it was located on the eastern side of the Mississippi River.

In 1955, the station and license relocated to Berthold Avenue in St. Louis’ Dogtown neighborhood, thus becoming KTVI. The station moved to the VHF spectrum in the channel 2 position on April 15, 1957.

In 1978, KTVI was purchased by Times Mirror Company, and in 1993 the company was sold to Hearst-Argyle Company. Argyle was bought out by New World in 1994, which was then bought by FOX Corporation. In 1995, FOX and ABC networks swapped stations in St. Louis, with FOX moving to KTVI (then owned by Fox) and ABC relocating to KDNL.

In 2008, FOX sold KTVI to Local TV, LLC. Later that year, KTVI began managing KPLR-TV under an agreement between Local TV and Tribune Broadcasting, Inc. and moved into KPLR’s studios in Maryland Heights. In 2013 Tribune Broadcasting bought Local TV’s 19 television stations, including KTVI. Then in 2019, Nexstar Media Group, Inc. purchases Tribune Broadcasting.

In 2019, Nexstar Media Group acquired Tribune Media and its stations and took over operations for both KPLR 11 and KTVI in 2020.

Both stations are available across many digital platforms.
