(KTVI)- Monday morning the Humane Society of Missouri had about 10 rescued Basset Hounds who were neglected and sick.
Tuesday morning, another group of animals, this time 39 Chihuahuas and other small mixed breeds were rescued.
Debbie Hill, the Vice President of Operations, talks about the chihuahuas, their prognosis and what will happen to them
Hill says that the owner put all of the dogs into one crate and saying that she (the owner) intended to load them in a truck and dump them at the side of the highway.
The health of the dogs include severe matting and hair loss and many have overgrown nails and external parasites.
The Humane Society has taken in a lot of dogs in the past week, to help out, they're looking for donations that include toys for small dogs, bed sheets and towels to help care for the rescued dogs.
