(KTVI)-Mosquito Control Awareness Week is wrapping up here in the United States.  Mosquitoes buzz around causing itchy bites, and, at times, spreading diseases like West Nile. The American Mosquito Control Association says you can enjoy the outdoors and stop the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses by practicing the Three D’s : Drain, Dress and Defend:

  • Drain: Empty out water containers at least once per week
  • Dress: Wear long sleeves, long pants, and light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
  • Defend: Properly apply an approved repellent such as DEET, picaridin, IR3535 or oil of lemon-eucalyptus

Virginia Beach, VA-based Mosquito Joe is a company that provides mosquito control treatment to residential and commercial customers nationwide.  The company has teamed up with local blood banks during National Mosquito Control Awareness Week to raise awareness about mosquito-borne illnesses while also organizing blood drives.
