EUREKA, MO. (KTVI)- One month after historic flooding caused massive damage to Missouri and southern Illinois, residents and business owners continue to rebuild.
Kevin Steincross and Margie Ellisor visited restaurants in Eureka, Mo. to discuss the ongoing repairs and what everyone can do to help.
Steincross met with Ray Boccardi, owner of Boccardi’s Italian Restaurant. The inside of Boccardi’s suffered such severe damage it had to be gutted and extensively repaired inside. Current patrons of the restaurant are eating in a tent behind the building while repairs continue.
Ellisor met with Casey O’Dell, owner of O’Dell’s Irish Pub. Damage to O’Dell’s was not as extensive as Boccardi’s, but the damage was still severe. O’Dell said the damage would have been much worse had local citizens not helped in the preparation efforts.
Lisa Hart stopped at the Pacific Brew Haus in Pacific, Mo. The Pacific Brew Haus is a historic landmark in Pacific, and hosts an impressive variety of materials used in the 1904 World’s Fair.
Much of those materials from the World’s Fair was heavily damaged in the floods.
