Annual amnesty project begins this weekend

(KTVI) - Is there an outstanding warrant for your arrest for a misdemeanor crime or not for paying child support?  St. Louis is one of 60 metropolitan cities participating in an annual amnesty project.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson and James Clark from Better Family Life explains why it's done and how it works.

Step 1:  Citizens comes to St. Louis Community College location

Step 2:  After a brief workshop, citizens receive, the Amnesty voucher.

Step 3:  Citizen takes the voucher and $100 to the participating municipality, AND THE warrant IS  lifted.  PLUS THE COURT WILL DEDUCT THE  $100.00 FROM THE  fine or court costs.

Saturday, August 3rd - St. Louis Community College Meramec  (7am - 7pm)
Wednesday, August 7th-St. Louis Community College Florissant Valley (7am - 7pm)
Saturday, August 10th-St. Louis Community College Forest Park (7am - 7pm)

CHILD SUPPORT AMNESTY:

Saturday, August 17th,
Wednesday, August 21st, and
Wednesday, August 21st
