CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI)- A Barat Academy student is up for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year award. Matt Griese, 17, has been volunteering with LLS since his grandmother died of leukemia on his fourth birthday. He often puts on dodge ball tournaments to raise money.

Now he’s asking St. Louis to help by making a donation to his fundraising campaign for Man or Woman of the Year. Every dollar raised counts as one vote. The candidate with the most votes is named the Man or Woman of the Year.

Matt is hosting a kids mixed doubles tennis event at the Dwight D. Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park on April 4, 2015, and a golf tournament at Old Hickory Country Club in St. Peters on April 20. To sign up, you can email Matt at or call him at 314-443-6831.

LLS works to advance the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers, like leukemia and lymphoma. They also strive to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
