ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Many are preparing to break any and all healthy eating habits for Thanksgiving, but it is important to remember that there is a way to indulge without cheating on the diet.

Whitney Linsenmeyer from St. Louis University joins us in the FOX 2 Kitchen with some “before the buffet” advice. Her advice to a hearty yet healthy Thanksgiving-simply remember the rainbow.

-cranberries (red)
-sweet potatoes (orange)
-cauliflower that you can roast or puree to add as a healthy boost to —-mashed potatoes (white)
-Brussels sprouts (green)
-yellow squash (yellow)
-grapes or berries (purple/blue)

Enjoy those once-a-year foods at the Thanksgiving buffet — take a small portion and fill your plate only once. Eat slowly, filling the space between bites with lots of holiday conversation.
