(KTVI) – Today is National Fudge Day! But did you know that fudge was invented by mistake. It`s an American invention, and the first batch was thought to be the result of an accidental ‘fudged’ batch of caramels.

Levee Mercantile, the old-time general store at the Gateway Arch, now makes its own fudge on-site.

They’ve got 12 different flavors, made fresh throughout the day.

Levee Mercantile features products similar to those sold by St. Louis merchants in the commercial boom of the late 1800s.
