ST. LOUIS, MO- It's been said that every pawn is a potential queen, at least in the game of chess. And today, some of the world's best and brightest chess players are competing in a world class competition.
The 2nd annual Paris Grand Chess Tour kicked off this week and the international broadcast is streaming from the Chess Club and Scholastic Center right here in St. Louis.
Grandmaster Eric Hansen talks to us live from the competition. He tells us about the different game rounds, how difficult it was to prepare, and St. Louis competitor and current U.S. champion, Fabiano Caruana.
The competition is a Four-stop world circuit, heading to Belgium, then comes here to St. Louis (Aug 4-16, Sinquefield Cup), and finally London.
You can watch the grand chess tour online at grandchesstour.org. The competition airs from 7am - 2pm local time today and tomorrow, and wraps up Sunday.
