ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – September is National Disaster Preparedness Month. Home fires are the most common threat people face across the country.

The Red Cross urges families to develop a fire escape plan so everyone in the household knows what to do if a fire occurs.

Things happen very quickly; often a family has only two minutes to escape. Planning ahead helps families stay safe.
