(KTVI)-National Pancake Day is Tuesday, February 5, 2013. IHOP restaurants across the country will give away millions of free short stacks of pancakes. The pancakes are yours no matter what, but the restaurant hopes you will pass the generosity on by making a donation to the Children`s Miracle Network.

In 2012, IHOP raised more than $3 million in support of Children`s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities. They hope to raise another $3 million this year.

Pancake Day has been celebrated for centuries as Shrove Tuesday, which marks Mardi Gras, when the foods forbidden during Lent are all used up and made into pancakes. National Pancake Day is typically planned in February each year in honor of the tradition.

Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital are Children`s Miracle Network Hospitals.
