ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The new iPhone 7 launches tomorrow. Should “i” make the jump from the iPhone 6?

Scott Schaffer of Blade Technology helps John Pertzborn make a decision.

Overview of 5 key features:

A. Splash and Water Resistant.

B. New Home Button.
i. Old home button was mechanical and prone to wearing out.
ii. Haptic feedback.

C. Lack of 3.5mm headphone jack.
i. Phone will include a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter as well as Lightning EarPods.
ii. What about other devices, such as card readers, external camera flashes, etc.?
iii. AirPods: Wireless headphones generally available in October.
1. Who is the largest manufacturer of Bluetooth headphones?
2. Beats, which is also owned by Apple.

D. Camera.
i. 12MP (same as 6s).
ii. Optical Image Stabilization.
iii. Quad-LED Flash.
iv. 7 Plus Camera
1. Two cameras that shoot as one.
2. Wide-Angle and Telephoto.

E. A10 Fusion microprocessor.
i. 2x faster than iPhone 6.
ii. Better power management.
1. Two hours more than iPhone 6s.
2. One hour more than iPhone 6s Plus.

F. Upgrading.
a. iPhone 6s users–unless you have to have the water resistance, better camera, etc., I would wait until the next iteration.
b. iPhone 6 users–probably a good upgrade due to the performance increases.
c. Business owners–make sure you are not dependent on a device tied to the 3.5mm jack, such as a credit card reader before upgrading.
d. iPhone 5 users–time to upgrade.
