ST. LOUIS, MO(KTVI)-St. Louis is known as a driving city. But Citizens for Modern Transit’s wants you to know that there are other ways to get around town. They’ve recruited a host of media personalities to compete in Great Race 2015, to help raise awareness about the alternative transportation options (mass transit, biking, carsharing, ridesharing). FOX 2’s Angela Hutti will be taking part as part of Team EAST.
Great Race 2015: A Relay to the Rails will take place Thursday, May 21, 2015, during the evening work commute. The race will place Team WEST against Team EAST as they work to complete a biking leg, carshare/rideshare leg and transit leg to get from their respective starting points to the finish line.
The race will culminate with a free finish line celebration from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the outdoor plaza adjacent to Pi Pizzeria in downtown, St. Louis, Mo., which sits above the Convention Center MetroLink Station, located at the intersection of Washington Ave. and North 6th Street.
Citizens for Modern Transit works to promote an integrated, affordable, and convenient public transportation system with light rail expansion. They call such a system critical for economic growth and to improve quality of life in the St. Louis region.
