(KTVI) – When is the last time you had a conversation with another person face to face?  It seems many Americans are so glued to their smartphones and social networking site that they’d rather tweet or text than have a conversation.

Social media expert Crystal Washington talks about how social media could be making us less social.

Some facts:
-25% of smartphone owners ages 18-44 say they can`t recall the last time their smartphone wasn`t next to them
-24 percent of people surveyed in a recent poll said that they had missed witnessing important moments because they were too busy trying to write about them on their favourite social network
-39% of Americans report spending more time socializing online than face to face (Badoo survey)·
-33% of Americans report being more likely to speak to a new person online than in person (Badoo survey)
