ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Based on our Fox 2 forecast, the snow is going to stick around for a while. So if you don’t have your own kids to shovel the snow or someone to hire, you’ll have to do it yourself.

Dr. Alex Vidan visits Fox 2 News in the Morning to provide some simple tips to avoid lower back injuries while snow shoveling.

Among the tips:

Pick the right snow shovel
Get properly warmed up before shoveling
Use ergonomic lifting techniques
Face towards the object you intend to lift
Keep your loads light
Avoid twisting the back, pivot your whole body
Take a break every 10 to 15 minutes
