ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The Roto Rooter Man and plumbers are already on standby to unclog your pipes and keep your kitchen sink from going down like the Titanic this Thanksgiving.

MSD’s Sean Hadley joins FOX 2 to list what not to put down the drain while preparing your holiday feast. F.O.G. (fats, oil, and greases)

Put F.O.G. in a plastic bucket or trash container with lid as opposed to the drain. Hot melted fats or grease down drain will eventually solidify when making contact with cold pipes, thereby clogging your sink. Pots, pans, and plates should be scrapped into the trash as well.

MSD inspects fog traps, or interceptors, at restaurants and commercial kitchens throughout the district. This inspection program, combined with MSD`s sewer cleaning program, has reduced sewer overflows caused by fog by over 80% in the last decade.
