ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The U.S. Senate is expected to vote this week on a bill addressing heroin and opioid addiction.

Faced with an epidemic, legislators have pushed for hundreds of millions of dollars in funding from the federal government to help addiction prevention and treatment programs. But how effective could medication-assisted treatment be in helping to curb this issue?
