MADISON, IL (KTVI)- The NHRA Midwest Nationals are returning to the Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois.

FOX 2’s Lisa Hart was track side Friday morning talking with Top Fuel National Champion Antron Brown, who won in 2013.

Brown became the first African-American NHRA world champ and first black driver to win a major U.S. auto racing championship title.

He is in the area for the 3rd Annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals. The event will be held at the Gateway Motorsports
Park between Friday, September 26th and Sunday, September 28th.

He talks about the I.E. Program which is presented by the U.S. Army.  It’s the only program of its kind.

I.E. is designed to inspire young men and women to consider a variety of career opportunities within motorsports, the U.S. Army and the automotive industry.

The event is family friendly. Children 12 and under are free.
