HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – A little more than a week after an EF-2 tornado tore through parts of Hazelwood, Missouri, that community is getting hit with more rain, thunder and lightning Thursday morning.

That is exactly what folks in Hazelwood didn’t need.

Rain has been coming down in the area for some time Thursday morning. To try and prepare for this, residents spent Wednesday tightening the tarps covering roofs and other areas damaged in last week’s twister.

One resident said the company helping with him with damage came out and re-stapled some of the tarps and even put a couple of more up.

Another resident said crews actually shaped the plastic covering his damage to funnel and drain any rainwater away from his walls and floors.

The Hazelwood Fire Chief added that many children, already uneasy about storms, were scared of the thunder and lightning Thursday morning.

The command center that went up after the tornado is still up and active.

Hazelwood police say officers are patrolling the damage zone 24/7. So far, everything has been ok and hopefully that doesn’t change with this latest round of stormy weather.
