(KTVI) - Spiderman 2 will be released the first weekend of May. That will help comic book sales. And those who pridected the demise of comic books were spewing pulp fiction.

Kids and adults keep reading them, on paper, online and on the movie screen.

Saturday, May 3 is Free Comic Book Day. Jon Scorfina, general manager at Star Clipper, filled John Pertzborn in on all of the details.

Star Clipper will give away more than 10,000 free comics from more than 20 publishers.

  • Brian Hurtt Signing 10:00 a.m. - 12:00p.m.
  • Star Clipper will be hosting a special signing with local star comic illustrator Brian Hurtt.
  • Costumed Heroes: 10:00 am - 12:00p.m.
  • Stonechat (comic release party): 2 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Dr. Dan The Pancake Man & The Psychedelic Psychonauts: 3 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship: 4 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Braining (set of Video Game Covers & Originals): 5 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Local Lo-Fi electronic act 3 of 5 will be playing a short set of Nintendo3DS music between each musical act.
  • Local Artists, including a collection of Ink & Drink artists, will be drawing for everyone.
