This has been a staple on my family’s holiday dinner table for as long as I can remember. I didn’t like it as a kid, but now that I’m older and my taste buds have matured, I look forward to it every year!
Angela’s Grandma’s Macaroni And Tomato Sauce
Half a small onion, chopped
2 tbs Bacon grease (shortening)
Tomato sauce (1 medium can for each box of macaroni)
1 box macaroni
2 cups sharp cheddar
Directions: 1) Brown onions till transparent in bacon grease (if you have a turkey neck you can brown that in some shortening then add onions and cook till transparent)
2) Add tomato sauce ( medium can for a box of macaroni more if you are making more)
3) Simmer for about an hour
4) Cook macaroni
5) Add sauce & cheese
6) Bake till bubbly in a 350° oven…for extra crunch you could top with bread crumbs.
