ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Getting your children to brush their teeth can be a daily battle for some parents.

Pediatrician Dr. Matt Dougherty with Esse Health, discusses why brushing is so important.

At a minimum, parents should be encouraged to clean the child’s teeth at least daily when the child is between 6 and 24 months of age, and twice a day thereafter.

The teeth may be cleaned with a small soft toothbrush.  Dr. Matt encourages twice daily brushing at least twice daily starting at age 1.
