ST. LOUIS-  Pneumonia is a lung infection caused by bacteria or viruses and viral pneumonia will usually get better on its own but community-acquired bacterial pneumonia or “CABP”, can lead to a hospital stay and even death.

Robert F. Poirier, MD, Emergency Medicine Physician with Washington University School of Medicine discussed the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia in adults who require hospitalization.
