LEMAY, Mo. (KTVI) - South County swimmers are looking forward to the Lemay Community & Aquatic Center in Jefferson Barracks Park. Developers marked a milestone with a new “top” on the center’s steel frame.

The Aquatics Center will have a deep water pool with slide, diving board, diving platform, climbing wall, lap lanes, a wet deck area, lazy river, and a tot area and play structure. The Recreation Center will have 41,000 square feet of fitness amenities including a gymnasium, walking and jogging track, cardio and weight fitness room, group fitness room, locker rooms, meeting rooms with a kitchen, and a childcare room.

Katy Jamboretz of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership said developers used no tax dollars to build the center. She said the River City Casino put in the $5-million initial investment. They will pay back the remainder of a St. Louis County Bond with the rent they pay to the county. Everyone can use the facility, even if they do not live in Lemay.

The pool will open in summer 2015. But, you can start working on your swimsuit body at the community center in winter 2015.
