(KTVI) – For the 23rd consecutive year, Taste of the NFL will rally the country’s best chefs and the NFL’s greatest stars to support hunger relief.

On the eve of Super Bowl Sunday, 32 of the nation’s best chefs (one from each NFL city) and a current/alumni player from each NFL team will come together for a night of food, fun and football.

Tim Ezell spoke with Chef Gerard Craft from Niche Restaurant and Rams Linebacker Will Witherspoon about the event – and got to taste the St. Louis entry.

All event proceeds support local and national hunger organizations. The Taste of the NFL has distributed more than $14 million to food banks across the US.

This year’s “Party with a Purpose” will take place on February 1 in New York.

Lemon-Maple Custard

300 g whole egg
600 g cream
1/2 c maple syrup
1/4 c lemon juice,
zest of two lemons
salt, TT

Pop the tops of the egg shells, rinse and clean out the inside. Combine all ingredients above. Pour mixture into empty shell 3/4 of the way up.  bake in a pre-heated water bath at 350 f until set (about 35 minutes).

Bonito Caviar

1000g Prepared Bonito or Dashi broth
7 g agar
1 g locust bean gum
freeze soy oil

Shear agar and locust bean gum, into bonito broth.  Heat to 185 degrees. Put in a squeeze bottle and drop liquid into soy oil.
