(KTVI)- A group of volunteers wants to be a help to families in some of life’s toughest moments. Allison’s Angel Gowns was created by Janet Scheller after the loss of her infant daughter, Allison, who was just one day old when she passed away in December 2012. Among the many things Scheller struggled with was what to dress her daughter in for the funeral. But then she was given a bereavement gown from her Pastor.

In 2014, Scheller started Allison’s Angel Gowns as a way to help other bereaved parents that are dealing with the loss of a child. The group takes gently used wedding gowns and transforms them into beautiful gowns for angel babies. They currently serve St . Louis and Metro East area hospitals.

The angel gowns are free. The group always accepts wedding gowns and are always looking for skilled seamstresses to volunteer.

Allison’s Angel Gowns is planning a Dinner Dance for August 2nd at the Crystal Ballroom in Staunton, IL. The tickets are $20. The evening will feature a concert from Nashville Recording Artist Chris Rogers. Proceeds will go towards helping Allison’s Angel Gowns become a registered 501c3 nonprofit.
