ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Mardi Gras in New Orleans is America’s biggest party. While it’s just an ordinary Tuesday for most the country it’s Fat Tuesday in The Big Easy, a culmination of the month-long carnival season.

Hundreds of thousands of revelers have lined parade routes across New Orleans well before dawn in anticipation of seeing decorative floats and marching bands.

Kristian Sonnier with the New Orleans Convention and Visitor's Bureau joins Fox 2 News live via satellite from heart of the action in the French Quarter, from a downtown balcony overlooking historic Saint Charles Avenue.
