ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - There is no better way to kick off Fire Prevention Week than becoming familiar with an escape plan for your household.

Director of Safety House Kelly Cobb emphasizes how important it is to practice an escape plan and know how to get out of your house in case of a fire emergency.  Every 10 years, smoke alarms need to be replaced, and every year batteries in smoke alarms need to be changed twice.  Experts encourage families to practice their escape plan with family members throughout the year to be as ready as possible.
