FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 3 pm in Franklin County.  The accident happened on Highway N, near Salabay Road.

Sgt. Al Nothum, a spokesperson for the highway patrol says the driver of an SUV traveling north on Highway N lost control of the vehicle, overturning and slammed into a tree.

The SUV had 6 passengers, 2 adult women, and 4 children.  The 2 women in the SUV were ejected from the vehicle. One died at the scene, the other woman was airlifted to Mercy Hospital.

All four children were injured, with 2 being airlifted to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.  Two others were transported via ambulance to Children’s.

The road is expected to be shut down for several hours.
