ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI)- Interstate 70 was completely shut down at the Missouri River for an hour Sunday morning so MoDOT crews could bring down one section of the steel truss on the closed westbound span of the Blanchette Bridge. The closure stretched from I-270 in St. Louis County to Route 94 in St. Charles County.

Some people came out to view the implosion. Viewing was allowed from Riverwoods Trail on the St. Louis County side and from Frontier Park on the St. Charles County side.

The rebuilding of the westbound span of the Blanchette Bridge continues until Fall 2013. For more details on the construction, click here.
