ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Two people were shot and killed just south of downtown St. Louis Monday night, and a 9-year-old girl was wounded. All three victims were inside a car traveling east on Park Ave. near 14th St. just before 7 pm.  St. Louis Metropolitan Police believe this was a targeted shooting.

The wounded 9-year-old girl is expected to survive.   Police say one of the victims was the mother of the child.  The other person shot and killed was an un-related male.  The car had been shot several times.  Police say it appeared another car had chased the victims’ car before someone opened fire.

“It’s just senseless.  There’s no concern for anyone else who was in the car, for whatever reason this might have occurred,” said Capt. Michael Sack, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.  “It’s just frustrating”

Sack encouraged anyone with information to contact St. Louis Crimestoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
