ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Genesis, a 20-month-old toddler girl from Honduras is scheduled to have lifesaving surgery Wednesday at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis. The precious little girl has a rare heart condition that has left her critically ill.

The World Pediatric Project, a nonprofit that helps children in developing countries gain access to much needed surgeries arranged to bring Genesis and her parents to the Gateway City. A Metro East couple married last month asked their guests to donate money to help pay for treatments for Genesis in lieu of gifts.

They started a charity fundraiser online with payments going to the World Pediatric Project specifically for Genesis. Cardinal Glennon Hospital and the medical team are donating care for the toddler.

The Ronald McDonald House is proving housing for the family.
