Man killed, 2 young children injured in north St. Louis County shooting


ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The St. Louis County Police department is investigating a shooting in north county that left one man dead and two children hospitalized late Thursday morning.

Police said the man and two children were driving northbound in the 8700 block of Lucas and Hunt Road when two men in a black Jeep Cherokee began firing shots at the victim’s Chrysler sedan. The cars then collided with each other and the “Jeep Cherokee became inoperable.” The victim’s Chrysler stopped off the “roadway on the east side of Lucas and Hunt Road.”

The two children suffered minor injuries. The 9-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy are expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the two male suspects armed with rifles ran north from the scene.

Police said they are still searching the area as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday. They are using patrol officers, special response unit, canine unit, and Metro Air Support.
