Three suspects arrested after beating MetroLink rider

EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. (KTVI) – Police have captured three suspects they say beat and robbed a MetroLink rider. The robbers got away with his smartphone. The incident occurred on Friday, November 22nd at 11 am, on a eastbound MetroLink train at the Jackie Joyner Kersee MetroLink Station.

The passenger was seated on the train, when one of the suspects grabbed the man’s phone. When the victim tried to retrieve his smartphone, the three suspects attacked him, beating him on the face and head.They were captured near the station after fleeing the train on foot.

Arrested were:

  • Toddeshia M. Weems, 18, charged with Robbery and Mob Action; bond was set at $75,000.00
  • Shontice M. Hayes, 19, charged with Robbery and Mob Action; bond was set at $75,000.00
  • Joseph J. Spencer, 19, charged with Robbery and Mob Action; bond was set at $100,000

All three suspects are being held at the St. Clair County Jail.
