ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Seven corrections officers at the city workhouse jail have been fired. Officials say it’s for retaliating against an inmate who assaulted a corrections officer in a separate incident.

In a statement St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay responded: “the city has no tolerance for such actions”.

Corrections reported the incident to the St. Louis police department for investigation.

Police chief Sam Dotson says the department investigated the case and referred to the prosecuting attorney’s office, but prosecutors declined to file charges against the corrections officers.
