ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – You may not have noticed but St. Louis has changed a lot in the past eight years. Construction workers have been busy on many retail and housing developments. Their revitalization efforts are striking when you look at the before and after pictures.

Real Estate website RENTCafé has released an interactive list of the nine most interesting developmants ovet the last eight years. They have used Google Street View to create pictures to show what an area looks like before and after a construction project.

1. Tower at OPOP, Downtown West

This high-rise is home to 128 luxury apartments and penthouse lofts with convenient access to the heart of the Central Business District. Residents enjoy perks such as a club room and terrace, garage parking, and discounts at neighborhood shops and restaurants. When it opened its doors to residents in 2014, the tower was the first new residential building to have been built in downtown St. Louis since the 1960s.

2. Barnes-Jewish Center for Outpatient Health, Central West End

Built to provide healthcare for St. Louis residents who couldn’t otherwise afford it, the Barnes-Jewish Center for Outpatient Health at 4901 Forest Park Ave contains five clinics. The 12-story building provides walkway access to the Barnes-Jewish Center for Advanced Medicine and the Forest Park/Laclede parking garage.

3. Nine North Euclid, Central West End

With a combination of apartments and condominiums, the Nine North building at 9 North Euclid Ave, includes a fitness room, an outdoor hot tub, and pool. The building also features ground-level retail, including Qdoba Mexican Grill, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, and Massage Luxe.

4. 3949 Lindell Apartments, Central West End

After a 2012 fire completely destroyed 3949 Lindell Apartments, the building was rebuilt and reopened. Today the building offers 197 apartments and primarily serves as off-campus housing for students at St. Louis and Washington Universities.

The home of St. Louis Public Radio includes three state-of-the-art classrooms, nine broadcast studios, and office and community space. The $12 million project was funded through public contributions and a $2 million donation from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

A key component of the 2000 North Central Redevelopment Plan that was developed by the City of St. Louis, North Sarah Apartments is a multi-phase, multi-family, mixed-use development located between Midtown and Central West End. With the first and second phases now complete, North Sarah consists of 223 mixed-income rental homes and approximately 12,000 square feet of commercial and retail space. The housing units are geared toward revitalizing the neighborhood while also providing affordable housing to families.

7. Moonrise Hotel, West End

Billing itself as a “boutique hotel,” the eco-friendly Moonrise Hotel features a Las Vegas-style neon sign and an open-air rooftop bar that appeals to the young. The hotel is located in St. Louis’ vibrant historic district known as The Delmar Loop, at 6177 Delmar Blvd,and features unique amenities like a 20s-style movie theater and a retro bowling alley.

8. Union Club, Lafayette Square

In 1896, a tornado destroyed the Union Club. Nearly 113 years later, builders completed a new Union Club, modeled and named after the original building. Construction was already underway in 2007 when the first photo was snapped. Today the Union Club features 39 apartment units and commercial tenants.
