9-year-old boy, 74-year-old man injured in Baden neighborhood

ST. LOUIS – A young boy and an elderly man were rushed to a local hospital after a shooting Sunday night, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

According to a police spokesperson, the shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Garth Avenue, that’s in the Baden neighborhood.

Police found the 74-year-old victim with wounds to his head and torso, likely from fragments of flying debris caused by rounds striking nearby metal or concrete.

The 9-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police learned the victims were at a family gathering when an argument began. During the argument, the suspect fired several shots at the 74-year-old.

The suspect was described as an African-American man, between 20 and 25 years of age, standing 5’5″ to 5’7″ tall, with a thin build and light brown complexion, wearing glasses.
